Dear Coach Jordan ,

The great High school coach Morgan Wooten once said that the beauty of coaching is that “you get to touch lives, you get to make a difference. You get to do things for people who will never pay you back and they say you never had a perfect day until you’ve done something for someone who will never pay you back”.

The reason I am emailing you is that I would like to say thank-you for being my coach. In my 9 years of playing football I have truly learned life lessons that cannot be taught in the class room, such as teamwork, organization, and above all perseverance. Without your help, I would not be able pursue an education at Bucknell University with an athletic scholarship.

After all these years I regret I did not stay in contact with you because as a coach you saw a lot of potential in me that others didn’t. You took me from the football field to the basketball court and gave me a chance to shine. All though my basketball skills are still lacking my football IQ has grown.  You taught me to endure because I remember the days you told me to attend both the football weight room and late practices. On those days I would be exhausted, but in the end it would only make me stronger.

I am truly grateful because you took time out of your busy life to not only coach but also mentor a young boy and that boy has turned to a young adult on the verge of entering the world. The priceless lessons you taught me has prepared me to tackle the life problems that await me; for that I am forever appreciative.

Thank-you,
